We enhance local-level climate change adaptation measures to the most vulnerable and climate change uninformed groups through offering assistance in the interpretation and guided response approaches to the seasonal climate forecast products.
Considering that the meteorological forecast products are often availed to the public in English language, TMI argues that the forecast information could perhaps be targeting the middle class and does not largely reach the most in need, since most rural communities do not speak English, and most urban poor, vulnerable to the effects of climate change are less concerned with preparedness actions.
In enhancing the local-level knowledge and interpretation of the climate forecasts to the end-user, TMI translates the forecast to the local dialect for ease of utilisation and adherence to the climate forecast advisories. We educate kids on climate change basics through skits, poems and creative content creations. We largely use professionals on voluntary basis to offer and simplify technical aspects of climate change information.
